BMW i. BORN ELECTRIC TOUR.
Dusseldorf.

Following our successful launch in Rome: experience the BMW i3 Concept and the BMW i8 Concept live in Dusseldorf. From the 5th until the 9th of September 2012, we will be giving you an exclusive look behind the scenes of the BMW i – entry is free and open daily from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

That was Dusseldorf!

For five days, the BMW i Tour in Dusseldorf gave a look behind the scenes of future mobility: interested visitors were able to experience the BMW i3 Concept and the BMW i8 Concept live, discover more about the intelligent Mobility Services of BMW i and see the latest technologies and lifestyle trends from different areas. Guests took this opportunity to register free of charge for DriveNow and took an on-the-spot test drive.

In addition, the unique piece of artwork SUSTAIN! by Maximilian Wiedemann especially commissioned for BMW i, caused a stir and gave a new perspective on a “better moving world”. But it wasn’t only his artwork which captured the guests’ attention – so did exclusive partners:

The "Healing Hotels of the World“, the "Langbrett“ company with its skate- and longboards, various lighting objects from the label "Herrwolke“, furnishings by "ett la benn“ and unique accessories by "Hey-Sign“ proved that sustainability can also have a modern interpretation.

Didn’t get the chance to visit the BMW i BORN ELECTRIC TOUR in Dusseldorf? From the 6th until the 8th of October 2012, the tour will be hosted by the Japanese capital Tokyo, in Roppongi Hills, on the 52nd floor of the Mori Tower.

Opening evening on 04.09.2012

It was an electrifying evening. The Schwanenhöfe in Dusseldorf, which have undergone a futuristic facelift, hosted the presentation of the BMW i3 Concept and BMW i8 Concept with invited members of the public.

The BMW i BORN ELECTRIC TOUR is right at the cutting edge of change, answering the question of how we can continue to live sustainably in the future without making major sacrifices. Designers and businesses from the Rhein-Ruhr metropolitan region presented their own personal understanding of the subject using different means and methods. The Senior Vice President Sales Germany BMW Group, Karsten Engel, welcomed the guests to the event and described the road from the initial idea right to the finished concept vehicles. Benoit Jacob, Head of Design BMW i, talked about the revolutionary design: The BMW i3 Concept embodies a “luxury apartment on four wheels” and the BMW i8 Concept is “the perfect sports car, creating sheer driving pleasure”. Creative Act Maximilian Wiedemann explained his installation “SUSTAIN!” which reflects his understanding of future mobility in urban life.

A number of different partners in the goods and service fields had exhibits on display which revealed their own approaches to sustainability: Healing Hotels of the World presented their holistic concept, as well did the skate and long board company Langbrett. Impressive lampshades by the artist Herrwolke captivated the visitor, as did the unique storage systems by ett la benn and the felt furnishings and accessories from Hey-Sign.

Why not pay us a visit at the Schwanenhöfe in Dusseldorf and experience the premium mobility of superior class – daily from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. (entry is free).

We look forward to your visit!

Next Stop: Dusseldorf.

The experience tour is moving on to round two: for their only stopover in Germany, the backdrop of the Schwanenhöfe in Dusseldorf provides the perfect ambience. Just like BMW i, the converted industrial area in the heart of the city represents a sustainable approach.

Born Electric Tour Düsseldorf

With sustainability in mind, the Creative Act Maximilian Wiedemann was invited to present his Sustain! project at the Schwanenhöfe site. In his work, this artist offers a new perspective on everyday objects using plenty of irony and humorous critique. The design of our other partners also has a focus on new, premium approaches: under the Herrwolke label, Michael Konstantin Wolke creates environmentally friendly interior, lighting and furnishing concepts.

The Healing Hotels of the World association focuses on comprehensive, holistic health and holiday offers in selected hotels and resorts, with the aim of restoring balance and joie de vivre. The Berlin company Langbrett makes trendy skateboards and longboards, amongst other items, from regional materials. For the Berlin agency ett la benn material and functional innovation are key to their furniture and interior designs, with objects requiring participation by their users. The natural material felt is the main element at Hey-Sign. The company’s collections of bags, accessories and furnishings are produced at their own factory close to Dusseldorf and are characterised by their durability.

Why not pay us a visit at the Schwanenhöfe in Dusseldorf and experience the premium mobility of superior class – daily from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. (entry is free). Discover what sustainability, technology, mobility services and lifestyle mean for BMW i. And what this could mean for you in 2013.

We look forward to your visit!
